 3.      TSECL, Tripura

Location:

Electrical Division No.1, of Agartala town

Project Summary:

The pilot project covers 46,071 no. of consumers. The proposed project area is covered under RAPDRP Scheme for IT implementation and system strengthening. The functionality of Peak load management is proposed by implementing Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for Residential Consumers and Industrial Consumers.

 4.      KSEB, Kerala

Location:

Selected Distribution Section offices spread over the geographical area of Kerala State

Project Summary:

Pilot is proposed for around 25078 LT Industrial consumers of Selected Distribution Section offices spread over the geographical area of Kerala State. The input energy for the total scheme area is mentioned as 2108 MUs and for the LT Industrial consumers is mentioned as 376 MUs. Part of this area is covered in R APDRP scheme. By implementing Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) it is proposed to provide quality service, prevent tampering and unauthorised usage of load, accurate and timely metering and billing, avoiding costly field visits of Sub Engineers for meter reading, reducing supply restoration time, peak load management through load restriction for Remote Disconnection/Reconnection and Time of Day tariff.

Benefits:

–          Reduction in AT&C losses through reduction in loss due to manual error, tampers, thefts, short assessment etc.,

–          Savings on employee and travel cost for meter reading

–          Introducing incremental tariff for peak hours through ToD Tariff

Key Facts

Project Type: Smart Grid Pilot in Power Distribution Sector
Total cost of project: Rs. 27.58 Cr
MoP Share: Rs. 13.79 Cr
Funding Programme: RAPDRP, Part-C
Project timeline: 3 years
New Technology: Delay in reporting and rectification of power failure is one of the major causes of consumer dissatisfaction. Meter Reading is also a time consuming and costlier affair and for getting reading of Energy meter, meter reader may have to visit the premises of the consumers two or more times due to door locked/gate locked condition. In some exceptional cases, the consumers are billed with previous average consumption. Due to which, consumer has to pay more than the energy used or utility will get less revenue for the energy actually consumed. Timely serving of bills to the consumers is also another major problem. In K S E Board, the readings of LT industrial consumers are taken by the Sub Engineers of Distribution section offices, amidst their tight schedule of lot of scheduled and unscheduled capital and maintenance works.
By Introducing Smart Grid Pilot of AMI for LT Industrial consumers K S E Board aims to,
1)     Provide better and quality service to the LT Industrial consumers selected for the scheme,
2)     Prevent abnormal events like tampering and unautherised usage of load,
3)     Accurate and timely metering and billing of the LT Industrial consumers remotely, thus avoiding costly field visits,
4)     Real time reporting of power failure thus reducing supply restoration time,
5)     Peack load restriction option for better load management at peak hours,
6)     Remote Disconnection/Reconnection.
