The US Trade and Development Industry (USTDA) have awarded a grant of $450,000 to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL, India central transmission utility) for a smart grid (~ referred as “Super Grid“) project to control electric power on the grid in real time, accommodate renewable energy generation and reduce transmission losses.
This grant will be helpful for the PGCIL [also for Power System Operation and Control (POSOCO), A wholly owned subsidiary of PGCIL] to innovate on the new grid control technologies like Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS).
P.S: The term Smart Grid is usually reflects on the innovations at the Distribution side/end-consumers, and the innovative projects in the area of power transmission are referred as Super Grid Projects.
